Mixed Martial Arts
Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a "reality fighting" sport. It blends various striking and grappling disciplines into one amalgamated "art." It is not unlike boxing and kickboxing in that athletic commissions regulate their fights and rules.
MMA consists in the regulated hand-to-hand combat of two athletes trained in various forms of martial arts. An MMA Fighter is an athlete that trains himself to learn and use the best techniques from different martial arts (Muay Thai, Karate, Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Wrestling, Boxing, etc.) and conditions himself with the best strength and conditioning methods to enter a ring or a cage and compete against another athlete under similar conditions.
At Madama Jiu-Jitsu Academy, our jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai programs naturally blend into each other to create a mixed martial arts "style." Our program also combines jiu-jitsu and Muay Thay with wrestling, western boxing, and grapple-boxing that has been proven to be very successful in mixed martial arts competition.
